How to Live Your Best Life

live-your-best-life.jpg

I started the hashtag #LiveYourBestLife with many of my posts because I wanted to do something beyond just slinging wax.  I wanted to make a difference.  I wanted to make this Scentsy site different to all the other bazillions of consultants you will come across and not just write about Scentsy.  I feel like people buy Scentsy to feel better anyway so why not extend that into making people feel better in every avenue of their life.  I'm not perfect with this so if you're thinking that I've suddenly found the holy grail of happiness you'll be disappointed.  I'm in a journey of my own to feel better and to do better and live better so I'm just going to share what I learn along the way with my own joys and struggles.   If you want the Scentsy and direct sales or training stuff you can go to Scentsy News and read there.

I've had a think about some of the ways that I've seen/read and what makes me happy.

1- Focus on the gratitude:  Oprah says all the time whatever you focus on increases and I know this to be true.  Its so easy to get overwhelmed with what's going wrong in our lives but if you focus on what's going right you'll notice a huge shift in your life.  Its hard to explain how this works but I challenge you to start a gratitude journal for just 2 weeks and see what difference it makes in your overall well being.

2-Meditation:  Find time to do this every day.  It teaches your brain and your spirit how to be more mindful and present.

3-Do something that scares you everyday:  Book a trip to a place you've never been, go kayaking, take a dance class, go to a networking event.  Usually things on the other side of fear are our biggest blessings and will push us and help us become the people we are meant to be.

4- Take Care of your Body:   How well you treat your physical body affects your abilities and mood and spirit greatly.  Eat good food, Exercise, floss, do things that keep you moving!

5-Forgive yourself and Forgive Others:  Let go of past resentments, make amends to those that you have done harm to.  Stop beating yourself up for things that have passed.  Stop beating yourself up in general and refer to step 1 as we believe what we constantly tell ourselves.

6- Service:    Its impossible to not have a life of joy when you focus on serving others.  Find ways to serve especially if you are a business.  Dont just focus on the sales, focus on making a better world for people.  Most people think that they cant make a difference but you can.  Share your story with others and use it to lift and help someone.  We are here to help each other.

7-Do something you love every day:   If this can be your job then great if not then do something small for yourself that makes you giddy with joy.  For me its photography on my Instagram:  @cmjolley but I also love the theatre, art galleries and museums.  Life is too short for you to not do things that make you happy.

8-Believe in yourself:   One thing that I can tell you from experience is that a lot of problems come when you doubt your abilities and think that you are not enough.  Change this and you will make great strides in changing your life.   You can change it by mantras every day telling yourself that you are worth it and eventually your subconscious will start believing it.

9- Surround yourself with good people:  Do not listen to the naysayers or those who doubt you.  I did too much of this in my life I really did.  I believed people who told me that I would never succeed at Scentsy and other consultants who told me that they were better than me.  Trust your own voice and only keep those around you that tell you to aim high and who root for you and your success and who consistently root for your success.

10- Be mindful of your money:  If you are a Scentsy Consultant reinvest your money back into your business.  Have a 6 month emergency supply for bills.  Keep good books, pay your taxes.  Write a list of priorities.  Be mindful of what you are spending things on, Find ways to reduce your bills.

12- Dont compare yourself to others:  This is one I've struggled badly with especially in my Scentsy Journey but if I can attest nothing will hold you back more when you start looking at y our journey and thinking you are less than because of their successes.  Keep your eyes on your own road and you will find your own voice too.  Its a distraction to keep looking at what others are doing.

So do you think I've missed anything?  Let me know in the comments below.

Struggling? Something for your Heart.

Are you struggling and having a hard time?  I've got some words of encouragement for you.

Life is naturally full of struggles and challenges but getting through these sometimes can be difficult.  I've had my own share of struggles that haven't been easy but you learn and you do better and you keep picking yourself up.   Some of the wisdom I've gained through these experiences I want to pass on to you and help make things a little bit easier.

1)  Its OK to feel your feelings:  We may think we shouldn't be feeling what we should be feeling.  Why am I depressed?  I should be Happy!  Feelings can be overwhelming but I want to say that its ok.  Its ok to feel not great.  We aren't meant to feel completely happy all the time.   Embracing these feelings are the first start to getting through this.  If you dont work through it, those emotions get buried in and it can make things a lot worse long term.

2) Do Healthy things to feel better:  There's a lot of unhealthy things out there to numb your feelings like drugs, alcohol, TV.  Obviously that will make things a lot worse so doing healthy things to make you feel better will help nourish your spirit.  Some of the things that I do for my heart is I try to meditate twice a day, Exercise helps an awful lot, chamomile tea is my favourite and I love going to the local park that's near by and being in nature.

3)  You arent your thoughts:  Your head will lie to you.  Always remember this and it will change your life.  Start Changing the beliefs about yourself at your core.  A lot of problems in life come because we feel that we arent enough.  You cant just throw all this external stuff and self help books at your life and expect to change overnight.  You will have to start loving yourself, telling yourself every single day that you are worth it and that you are enough.  I do this whilst running and its great to do whilst you're beating the pavement, listening to your favourite girl power music.  With mantras you may not believe them at first but eventually if you tell yourself long enough that you are kick ass you will KNOW that you are kick ass...because you are!

4)  Cultivate a heart of gratitude:  Its impossible to feelhorrible at the same time that you are feeling grateful.  In the video and in the comments below I've mentioned an exercise that Tony Robbins teaches that uses this and will help you feel better in less than 10 minutes.   If you're having a hard time with the gratitude think of things that you are holding on to, resentments and anger or guilt from the past and let these go.  When we scrub our spirits down and get rid of the things that dont serve us we open our heart to so much joy.  Whatever you focus on will increase so make sure its the good stuff!

Be gentle with yourself guys and know that you are worth it!

Enjoy the Moment

Some happy thoughts for y'all. :) #liveYourBestLife

Life is too short to not enjoy the moment.  I think people are constantly rushing around, constantly looking at their devices and its draining.  You end up just barely getting through the day and wondering where the week went and then those weeks turn into months, then years.  You then live a life full of should of, could of and lots of regrets.   People are trying to cram MORE into their days when what we should be doing is less.   When you create space that's where inspiration has room to flood into your life, you can be in the present moment and where there's so much more joy.   At the end of your life do you want to look back and say you lived a joyful life or would you rather work 80 hrs a week to earn money but never have any time to enjoy your hard work?

How can you listen to your gut and what the universe may have in store for you if you're too busy to listen?  Its a bit cliche but really stop and smell the roses.  Love yourself enough to slow down and to embrace every moment.  Focus on the good in your life and that will increase.  Trust that when you do all you can on your end and when you then let Go and let God/The Universe do the rest....The universe will rise up to meet you!!!

Borough Market

Saturday mornings usually involve for me a trip to Borough Market here in London.  I go to a meeting at Southwark Cathedral to refill my spiritual bucket and then I wander round and see all the bright and happy colours of the fruits and veggies and smells from the street vendors in the market.  I love the energy of the place and I always leave feeling recharged and ready for the new week.  What things do you do each week that make you feel happy? Would love to hear in the comments below.

Wandering the Southbank

This weekend James was gone and so I went out and did a bit of a photo walk around Southbank Centre here in London.  There was a 'Love Festival' on and they had converted a good portion next to the Thames into a beach complete with sand and lounge chairs.  Southbank has a great vibe to it, there's booksellers, music, good food and some cultural hotspots like the Southbank Centre, National Theatre.  It tends to be very busy with tourists because the London Eye is nearby as well as London Dungeon and within walking distance to/great views Big Ben.  It reminds me quite a lot of Paris and walking next to the Seine and the Romanticism of it.  I wandered round and had some street food before I then headed to Covent Garden to get my hair cut.  Southbank is always changing that's for sure and I find it a bit of fun to pop by every now and then.

Anyway....Here are some pictures I took.  I posted some pictures on my instagram which you can see  here as well.

Take a Moment

Take a moment out of your day to do absolutely nothing. Breathe deeply. Appreciate the little things. Be grateful for the simple joy of being alive.
